Chocolate chip banana muffins...You could say that these tasty treats are one of my mom's trademarks. She would make them for breakfast before we left for school, on the weekends, for an afternoon snack or whenever! These had to have been made at least once a week in our home so now I've continued the tradition in the Heylin household! I don't think Ryan could go a week without these either ;)

pAiNt!
So we decided to paint our kitchen today! Every other room in our house is so plain that we wanted to add some color! It just so happens to be our kitchen!!! We chose the color to match our Le Crueset collection :) The only downside is we'll have to paint it back when we move out, but for now we have a new kitchen!

Honeymoon Sweets
I guess this is not all about our own creations, but also the things that we have found to enjoy outside of our home...These are some of the things that we enjoyed on our honeymoon this past march. Of our favorites, there was elk, sirloin-paired with a fresh and crisp champagne and for dessert a rich chocolate cake with a vanilla bourbon milkshake, homestyle baked potatoes, pizza, shrimp tempura, and french pastries! What a treat to spoil ourselves :)
Mexican Pizza:Taco Bell Style
So this is what we call our mexican pizza. With Ryan's love for Taco Bell, we have been making late night runs to get soft tacos and mexican pizza's. Being on a budget, we are trying not to blow all our money so we wanted to do something simple this week... Tortillas, refried beans, enchilada sauce and toppings turned into our own mexican pizzas! In fact, they were so enjoyable that we made them two days in a row! Anyways... Not much going on in the kitchen lately, but were trying to enjoy married life. We have become part of a marrieds group at church and studying the Word together with other couples and Amy has recently been promoted to management at King Soopers. Life is good! Until next time...

Life so far...
We have been married for a little over one month now. We always have tuesdays off during the week and that is when we take advantage of cooking in the kitchen together. Working such odd shifts, we hardly get to cook homemade meals and since our days off usually work out together, we have highly taken advantage of this great opportunity. Besides, we love it! Our goal is to make at least one new recipe a week. So far, we are taking turns picking out the meal and then going to the grocery store to stock up on our necessities. Not sure where this will take us, but for now its just a fun hobby...
Here's what we've come up with so far...Grilled Steak with Southwestern Three-Tomato Salsa and Homemade Onion Rings, Grilled Chicken with Roasted-Red Pepper Sauce, and Peanut Crusted Chicken Breast. We have also tried Stuffed Poblanos, Chocolate Mousse & Mexican Ice Cream Sundaes with Cinnamon-Chocolate Sauce...
