Serves 4-PREP TIME: 20 Minutes-TOTAL TIME: 40 Minutes
SLOPPY JOES:
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
Salt and pepper
1 pound of ground beef
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Hamburger buns
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion, pepper, celery, and garlic; season with salt and pepper. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook breaking up until no longer pink, 6-8 minutes.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce into the beef. Simmer until sauce is thickened about 6-8 minutes.
- Season mixture with more salt and pepper and serve on hamburger buns.
We made homemade french fries to serve on the side.
Just for the two of us, we used 2 large russet potatoes and sliced into wedges. Toss in olive oil and season with season salt. Bake at 425 for 15-20 minutes or until crispy.
